No. 5 UR Men’s Golf Finishes Sixth at CSU San Bernardino Coyote Classic

The fifth-ranked University of Redlands men's golf team wrapped up a sixth-place finish at the CSU San Bernardino Coyote Classic on Tuesday after improving by 10 strokes in the third and final round. The Maroon and Gray went up against some of the best NCAA Division II programs in the west region while recording a 36-hole total of 881 at Arrowhead Country Club.

Overall, the Redlands swingers posted only one round of 80 or higher throughout the two-day tournament.

Sophomore team captain Jeremy Sanders (Chatsworth, CA) regained the Bulldogs' No. 1 spot by signing his scorecard with two sub-70 rounds, netting a total of 211 to tie for second in the field.

 Piecing together a top-10 showing, freshman Bobby Holden (Simi Valley, CA) shot a 216 after ending the event with a career-low, single round of 67.

Sophomore Mike Caston Jr. (Escondido, CA) and freshman Perry Johnson (Lake Forest, IL) each tallied scores of 230, while freshman Anthony Estes (San Pedro, CA) rounded out the crew's showing with a 232.

In addition, sophomores Nick Johnson (La Jolla, CA) and Jeremy Gomberg (Los Altos, CA), along with junior Colin Myers (Chicago, IL), represented the Maroon and Gray with respective scores of 227, 234 and 247.

The Bulldog men's golf team returns to conference action on Thurs., March 8, by competing in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) 18-hole No. 3 match at Industry Hills Country Club.  The first tee time is set for 11 a.m.
