It was announced earlier today that the University of Redlands men's soccer team is picking up right where it left off in 2016 by landing at No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches (formerly known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America) NCAA Division III Preseason Ranking for the upcoming campaign.
Last year, the Bulldogs put together an 18-6-1 season that culminated in a postseason run to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Championships for the second time in Head Coach Ralph Perez's 11-year tenure at Redlands. The Maroon and Gray earned a 12-4-0 conference mark en route to the program's 14th SCIAC championship.
Redlands returns a talented senior class that includes All-Region honorees midfielder Casey ChubbFertal (Eugene, OR), forward Chase Boone (Beaverton, OR), goalkeeper Josh Haskill (Lakewood, CA), defender Keoni Yates (Kailua-Kona, HI), and defender Ben Thompson (Spokane, WA).
ChubbFertal, Boone, and junior Arman Mogharei (Hayward, CA) will serve as team captains during the upcoming campaign, which begins with an exhibition game at home against Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, August 24, at 7 p.m.
Redlands is the only member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) to land among the top-25 poll. The Bulldogs look forward to taking on No. 12 Trinity University (TX) on September 3 in San Antonio before hosting No. 20 Carnegie Mellon University (PA) on September 8 on Farquhar Field.
