Making their 19th appearance in 21 years, the Bulldogs join the field of 43 teams that includes three other programs from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
Redlands (16-9) faces off against seventh-ranked Cal Lutheran University (15-8) just five days after falling to the Kingsmen in a tight 4-5 tally during the third-place match of the conference tournament.
Play continues on Friday for the winner, who takes on the No. 5 Stags of CMS (19-6), while ninth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (14-10) battles it out with the No. 6 UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs (9-9) in the other second-round match.
The surviving squads take to the court again on Saturday, squaring off for a spot in the NCAA quarterfinals.
With the addition of UC Santa Cruz, this cluster of familiar foes promises to provide exciting matches between top-ranked, rival schools. This season CMS has defeated Pomona-Pitzer, Redlands and Cal Lutheran but lost to Santa Cruz. In addition, Pomona-Pitzer recorded a 5-4 victory the Banana Slugs on March 31.
