Bulldog Tennis Players Jessica Ly and Patrick Lipscomb Tabbed ITA National Players to Watch

It was announced last night at the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Championships Awards Banquet that University of Redlands' junior Jessica Ly (Torrance, CA) and sophomore Patrick Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) were named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Players to Watch.  They both received the West Region honor last week and now become the first Bulldogs to garner these national awards from the ITA.

Playing at the top of the line-up in singles and doubles, Ly led the Bulldog women to a program-best record of 20-4 during the 2013 season.  After playing an integral role in the team's third-place finish amidst a highly competitive conference, she earned her third consecutive spot on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) First Team.  Ly currently holds top-10 rankings in both singles and doubles in the ITA West Region, including the No. 1 spot in doubles with sophomore teammate Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI).

Lipscomb put together another solid showing in just his second season with the Redlands men's tennis team.  For the second year in a row, he garnered All-SCIAC First-Team honors as the Bulldogs' top singles player after firing off a 19-6 overall record.  He also combined forces with sophomore Gram Leahy (Portland, OR) as a formidable doubles duo at the top of the line-up.  Lipscomb currently boasts rankings among the top 10 in the ITA West Region and now represents the Bulldogs at the NCAA Individual Championships for singles, with competition beginning today at Kalamazoo College (MI).

In addition, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges' Paul Settles was named the Wilson/ITA National Men's Coach of the Year.
