Redlands Men’s Tennis Garners End-of-Season National Ranking of No. 14

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced the final national rankings for NCAA Division III, placing the University of Redlands men's tennis team at No. 14, the highest ranking for the Bulldogs since 2009 and the 19th time in the top 15 since 1992.

In addition, sophomore All-American Patrick Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) finished the season ranked No. 11 among the singles rankings and 13th with sophomore teammate Gram Leahy (Portland, OR) for doubles.

On the year, Lipscomb impressed and compiled a 21-7 singles record while advancing to the quarterfinals at the NCAA Division III Singles Championships, farther than any other Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) male competitor.  Moreover, he was the fourth-ranked singles player in the West Region.

The duo of Lipscomb and Leahy put together consistent performances throughout the 2013 season, registering an 18-8 mark.  While ranking 13th nationally, the duo was the sixth-highest team in the West Region.

Also cracking the top 15 doubles teams in the West Region was the combination of sophomore Nick Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) and senior Connor Hyde (Peterborough, NH).  The two competitors racked up a record of 14-10 on the campaign en route to garnering their No. 14 doubles ranking.  Cummins also found himself ranked among the West-Region's top-25 singles players, landing at No. 21 with an 18-9 overall record.

As a team, the Bulldogs finish the year ranked fifth in the West Region behind a quartet of teams that are among the nation's top 12.
