Redlands and La Verne Womens Basketball Team up in Support of Pink Zone for Breast Cancer Awareness
The University of Redlands and University of La Verne women’s basketball teams have collaborated with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in its support of the Pink Zone, which raises breast cancer awareness throughout campuses and communities across the nation.
In recognition of Pink Zone, members of the two basketball teams will show support for this cause with Pink Zone T-shirts selling for $10 throughout the Leopards’ home game with the Bulldogs on Saturday at Frantz Athletic Court on the University of La Verne campus.
In 2008, over 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research. The WBCA began the WBCA Pink Zone™, formerly known as "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities.
In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success. In 2008, over 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.
