Bulldog Womens Golf Places Fourth out of Seven at CSU San Marcos Invitational

The University of Redlands women’s golf team placed fourth
out of seven at the rain-shortened CSU San Marcos Invitational,
held at the par-72, 5,816-yard Lake San Marcos Country Club in San
Marcos on Sunday afternoon.
After rain cancelled Saturday’s rounds, the teams were
limited to just 18 holes on Sunday.
The Bulldogs’ score of 367 sat well behind Western Washington
University’s winning tally of 312. Redlands did, however,
post the top mark among NCAA Division III programs, which included
rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.
Sophomore Tracy Saracino (Englewood, CO) carded an 85 and tied for
14th. Her score was tops among golfers on the bottom four
squads.
With a score of 88, senior Staci Walsh (Shoreline, WA) placed 17th,
while senior Paige VanArsdall (Lakewood, WA) and freshman Hayley
Peterson (Gladstone, OR) followed, tying for 23rd (93) and 30th
(101), respectively. Senior Remy Kawaguchi (Bellevue, WA) rounded
out the Bulldog competitors with a 34th-place 108.
Katie Sharpe of Western Washington captured the individual title
with a 5-over 77.
Redlands takes a weekend off from competition before it tunes up
for a dual with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday, March 12, at 12
noon at the Empire Lakes Golf Club in Rancho Cucamonga.
