Saracino Breaks School Record as Bulldog Women’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Dennis Rose Invitational
Senior Tracy Saracino (Englewood, CO) rewrote the Redlands record books once again by ripping off a new single-round low of 72 during second outing at the 54-hole Dennis Rose Invitational at the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course in Hawaii earlier this week.
In addition, the team rattled off a new single-round record on Monday afternoon, posting a combined score of 315 to improve upon the group's previous-best mark of 319, which was established earlier this fall.
Overall, 10 members of the team participated in the tournament while the Bulldogs' top-five scorers combined efforts to finish eighth with a total of 979, edging out NCAA Division I opponent Montana State-Billings by one stroke.
Redlands was the lone NCAA Division III institution in the field of predominantly Division II programs.
After Saracino's first-day score of 78, the veteran swinger enjoyed the best round of her collegiate career while taking down her previous all-time low score by four strokes. She wrapped up the competition as the No. 1 Bulldog with a final score of 235, placing her 24th in the field.
Sophomore Hannah Durette (Oceanside, CA) slotted in behind Saracino, posting a three-round mark of 240 (86, 75, 79). The second-year player registered her two best rounds of the year in the final 36 holes, scoring a 75 and 79.
After her stellar performance at the CMS Co-Ed Invitational, freshman Tavleen Kochar (La Habra, CA) rallied to tie for 38th overall with a solid showing of 249 (83, 85, 81).
Sophomore Siarra Waddy (Temecula, CA) has yet to shoot over 90 in a single round, coming in 42nd by signing her scorecard with marks of 82, 83 and 90.
Freshmen Dalton Meade (Sandy, OR) and Jayna Domingo (Walnut, CA) each finished tied for UR's fifth and final scoring spot at 267. Meade notched marks of 89, 87 and 91, while Domingo bookended a troublesome second round of 1010 with strong performances of 85 and 81.
While making her collegiate debut, freshman Samantha Conway (Ripon, CA) entered the clubhouse on the final day with a 272, tallying single-round scores of 89, 96 and 87.
Making her final season's first appearance, senior Kim Masunaga (Cupertino, CA) joined freshman Jenny Williams (Yucaipa, CA) in a tie for 48th with totals of 273.
Fellow rookie Katelyn Hardy (Hemet, CA) swung the sticks for the first time as a member of the Maroon and Gray, completing the Invite with a score of 290.
Redlands concluded the fall season with this enjoyable outing in Hawaii but looks forward to resuming action on February 10 at the SCIAC 18-hole No. 1 Tournament at Los Serranos Country Club.
