The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced on Thursday evening that three University of Redlands women's tennis players landed on the All-Conference teams for their contributions to the 11th-ranked Bulldogs' third-place finish. Junior Jessica Ly (Torrance, CA) and freshman Natalie Etchegaray (Placentia, CA) both garnered First-Team accolades for the Maroon and Gray, while sophomore Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI) represented Redlands on the Second Team.
Ly collects her third-consecutive First-Team honor while leading the Bulldogs to an 8-3 record as a team against conference competition. Individually, she battled against the top players in the SCIAC at No. 1 singles, compiling a 4-4 record in her third season. In addition, Ly joined forces with Sumida at the No. 1 doubles slot, racking up an impressive 7-1 record against conference competition.
Due to her stellar performances, Etchegaray earns her inaugural All-Conference selection as a rookie contributor. While bursting onto the SCIAC scene, she registered a 7-1 mark in conference action as the No. 2 singles player for the Bulldogs. In doubles play, Etchegaray teamed up with sophomore teammate Julia Pollak (Holland, PA) to compile a 7-1 conference record as the No. 2 doubles duo.
Garnering her second-straight Second-Team All-SCIAC honor, Sumida put together a solid 6-2 record as the No. 3 singles competitor for Redlands. She also played a critical role in the top doubles tandem's success that culminated in a 7-1 mark.
