Jessica Ly Recognized as the West Region's Senior Women's Tennis Player of the Year

Earlier today the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its regional postseason award recipients, which included University of Redlands women's tennis standout Jessica Ly (Torrance, CA) as the 2014 West Region Senior Player of the Year.

Ly secured the No. 1 spot in singles throughout her final campaign at Redlands, earning an 11-10 record amidst a challenging slate of foes. She defeated five opponents from top-30 teams while all but one of her defeats came against counterparts from nationally-ranked squads.

Throughout her tenure with the Bulldogs, she has amassed 38 singles victories and 45 doubles victories in spring competition thus far.

Earlier today, Ly became just the third player in Redlands women's tennis history to earn First-Team All-SCIAC recognition each season of her four-year career.

Last year, she was honored as the ITA's West Region and National Player to Watch.

She now looks forward to competing at the NCAA Individual Championships for the first time later this month at nearby Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. She advances in singles and also joins forces with junior Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI) in the doubles draw, beginning May 22.
