The No. 13 University of Redlands men's water polo team
won two games on Wednesday, Oct. 30, taking a 12-7 decision against
Chapman University and a 24-1 rout against Caltech.
Against Chapman, sophomore defender Andrew Smith-Jones (Annapolis,
MD) netted three goals to lead the Bulldogs offensively. Senior
driver Andrew Becskehazy (Miami, FL), junior center Brendan Meaney
(Palm Desert, CA) and junior utility player Jim Kehrig (Danville,
CA) scored two apiece while junior utility player Ian Starkie
(Arroyo Grande, CA), freshman driver Mark Yerkes (Orlando, FL) and
junior utility player Ryan Floersch (San Jose, CA) each posted one
goal.
Both Starkie and junior center Ben Taylor (Porterville, CA) scored
five goals each to lead the team over Caltech by a 24-1 final. Also
adding multiple goals were junior driver Taylor Swyers (St. Louis,
MO), freshman driver Cabot Ferrill (Poway, CA), freshman driver
Jeff Parsons (Newark, CA) and freshman defender Tyler Harp (San
Bernardino, CA). Providing one goal apiece were Yerkes, junior
driver Brent Dotters (Porterville, CA), freshman driver Ben Ballard
(Riverside, CA), freshman driver Billy Brightenburg (Long Beach,
CA), junior defender John Floersch (San Jose, CA) and senior
defender Jon Rielly (Vista, CA).
Redlands (20-7, 4-0 SCIAC) hosts both the University of La Verne
and UC Santa Cruz on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.,
respectively.
