The University of Redlands men's water polo team crushed
Caltech, 20-3, on Saturday morning at the Thompson Aquatic Center
before dropping a 5-7 decision to Cal Baptist University later on
in the afternoon.
Freshman driver Matt Zaggy (University City, MO) paced the Bulldog
offense against Caltech, burying four goals. Sophomore driver
Jordan Suazo (Oceanside, CA) offered a troika of scores while
freshman driver Patrick Roth (Salt Lake City, UT), senior center
Ben Taylor (Porterville, CA) and senior driver Taylor Swyers (St.
Louis, MO) each rattled the back of the cage on two occasions. In
addition, junior center Miran Terzic (Mostar, Bosna i Hercegovina),
senior driver Marc Hicks (Granada Hills, CA), sophomore driver Jeff
Parsons (Newark, CA), senior driver Erik Grosshans (Oxnard, CA),
senior central defender Ian Starkie (Arroyo Grande, CA), freshman
driver Alex Dow (Temple City, CA) and junior driver Drew Fischer
(Highland, CA) all contributed goals to Redlands'
victory.
Tending the Bulldog net, freshman goalkeeper Jessie Gunther
(Perris, CA) made six saves.
In the Cal Baptist contest, Grosshans led the Bulldogs with two
scores, but a strong defensive front put on by the Lancers kept the
Maroon and Gray's offense in check. Senior driver Brent
Dotters (Porterville, CA), Starkie and senior center Ryan Floersch
(San Jose, CA) each posted scores as well.
Senior goalkeeper Teddy Trowbridge (Mercer Island, WA) stopped a
game-high 10 shots in between the posts for Redlands.
Caltech dropped to 0-11 (0-5 SCIAC) with the loss while Cal Baptist
moved to 20-6 with the win.
Redlands (12-16, 4-1 SCIAC) hosts Occidental College next on
Wednesday at 7 p.m.
