After defeating the University of La Verne on Saturday morning,
the University of Redlands men's water polo team headed to Golden
West Community College to face the Falcons of the Air Force Academy
but lost in a come-back effort by a score of 8-10.
After a slow start that resulted in a four-goal deficit, the
Maroon and Gray made a late push against the Falcons, recording
seven of their eight goals in the second half. But it was not
enough to overtake the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) foe as
Redlands suffered the two-goal loss.
Senior driver Drew Fisher (Highland, CA) notched two netters in
the match to lead the team. Junior center Blake vanHartesvelt
(Mercer Island, WA), senior driver Bo Sidhu (Indio, CA), junior
center-defender Andrew Smith-Jones (Annapolis, MD), junior driver
Jeff Parsons (Newark, CA), along with sophomore drivers Zac
Chierici (Millbrae, CA) and Patrick Roth (Cottonwood Heights, UT)
each registered a goal for the Bulldogs.
Patrolling the Redlands cage, sophomore Jessie Gunter (Perris,
CA) tallied eight saves in the process.
The Bulldogs travel to Cal Lutheran University on Wednesday for
a SCIAC dual match against the Kingsmen at 4 p.m.
