On Saturday morning in Pasadena, the University of Redlands
men's water polo team captured a 24-6 thrashing of the Beavers of
Caltech.
With the win, Redlands improves to 3-0 as the only undefeated
team in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(SCIAC).
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after the first
period and continued their offensive hot streak by putting up 12
total scores before the Beavers registered their first.
At halftime, the Maroon and Gray owned a 15-2 advantage and
continued to pressure the Caltech defense with five more goals by
the end of the third period.
Redlands capped off the contest with a final score of 24-6, with
three of freshman center-defender Christian Ogawa's (Mira Mesa, CA)
six netters coming in the fourth frame.
In addition to Ogawa's career-high contribution, freshman center
Grant Harrington (Poway, CA) contributed in a big way by netting
four scores en route to the lopsided victory. Eight other Bulldogs
recorded at least one goal during the 32 minutes of action.
No other statistics were available at the time of posting.
On Wednesday, Redlands (12-12, 3-0 SCIAC) travels to
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges to take on the Stags at 7 p.m.
