The University of Redlands men's water polo team pushed past the Leopards of the University of La Verne by a score of 11-9 in Wednesday night's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) contest at Las Flores Park.
The Bulldogs posted their third win in a row and the second straight with double-digit scoring.
Redlands looked to senior center Blake vanHartesvelt (Mercer Island, WA) to lead the offense with his five-goal performance. Junior driver Shane Anderson (Riverside, CA) backed him with a pair of netters, while senior driver Danny Boessenecker (Clayton, CA), sophomore driver Clint Freeman (Brentwood, CA), senior driver Jeff Parsons (Newark, CA), and junior driver Adam Oakes (San Bernardino, CA) each scored once.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Abbott (Alta Loma, CA) patrolled the Maroon and Gray cage, tallying five saves in the victory.
Redlands (10-13, 2-0 SCIAC) heads to Chapman University on Saturday for an 11 a.m. non-conference bout with the Panthers, before returning home to the Thompson Aquatic Center for a 7 p.m. conference showdown with the Occidental College Tigers.
