OAK PARK, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (8-9, 4-8 SCIAC) finished their 2024 regular season with a 21-11 road win against California Lutheran University (CLU) on Wednesday evening as Celine Flaig (Redondo Beach, CA) scored her 100th career goal in her final game as a Bulldog.
Jenna Bradford (Anaheim, CA) got Redlands started with a goal at the 12:45 mark of the first. Then following a pair of CLU goals, Cate Ramicone (Countrside, Ill.) tied the game at two.
The Regals then made it a 4-1 run with two more tallies before Redlands responded with a pair of connections, including one from Ruby Czajkowski (West Hartford, CT).
The back-and-forth first 15 minutes continued as the Regals made it three in-a-row as they took the largest lead of the game at three, 7-4, with only 2:13 left in the quarter.
Flaig, however, went on a personal 3-0 surge which included her 100th career goal coming with :37 seconds on the clock. She then tied the game at seven with only nine seconds remaining.
Her three goals became four as she was assisted by Czajkowski in the first three minutes of the second and helped the Bulldogs build a four-goal advantage, 11-7.
After Czajkowski, Briannah McGee (Murrieta, CA), and Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA) ended the earlier run with goals. Then Czajkowski and Bradford would end the half with the final two as the Bulldogs led by five, 13-8, at the half. Redlands allowed seven Regal goals in the first 13 minutes, but over the next 17 of the first half they conceded only one and outscored CLU 9-1.
After a high scoring first half, the two teams settled in defensively in the third and they combined for only three goals allowed. The Bulldogs would win the quarter thanks to scores from Natalie Schumann (Murrieta, CA) and Czajkowski.
Holding a six-goal lead, 15-9, starting the fourth, Ella Batarse (Porter Ranch, CA) took advantage of a free position opportunity as she scored a player up goal only :32 seconds into the period.
Over the final 13 minutes the Bulldogs scored five more goals and took the win, 21-11. Redlands finished the final 47 minutes on a 17-4 run after trailing 7-4.
Czajkowski had a game-high five goals and two assists for seven points. Flaig finished with four goals and brought her career total to 102. Bradford and Webster each finished with hat tricks and McGee scored twice. Alyssa Ashley (Vista, CA) finished with four saves in goal and got the win.
Webster finishes the season with 68 points, the eight most in single-season program history. She also scored 57 times, the seventh most. Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) had 26 assists, the seventh most. Ashley moves up into fifth all-time in career saves with 165, 20 out of fourth place.
The Bulldogs finish the season with 236 goals scored, the fifth most in single-season history. Their scoring average of 13.88 is fifth highest, the 99 assists are third most, and the 335 points are fifth most.
Looking towards 2025 the Bulldogs only lose two seniors from an underclass laden 2024 team.
