REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (6-6, 2-5 SCIAC) dropped their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup with No. 12 Pomona-Pitzer Wednesday night at Farquhar Field 22-5.
The Sagehens scored the first nine goals before First-Year Briannah McGee (Murrieta, CA) scored on a player advantage with 1:45 left in the first quarter. Then with only :19 seconds left in the period Catie Ramicone (Countryside, Ill.) finished the Bulldogs' second goal as UR ended the first down 10-2.
Ramicone scored her second of the day with 5:16 left in the half as Redlands went into the break down 14-3.
Redlands came out strong defensively in the second half holding Pomona-Pitzer scoreless for the final 3:47 of the first half and the first 3:02 of the second, while earning a goal from Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA) in the first minute of the third, while Ramicone tallied the assist.
The fifth and final goal for the Maroon and Grey came :18 seconds into the fourth with Celine Flaig (Redondo Beach, CA) finishing off a feed from Webster for the score.
Ramicone finished with a team-high three points thanks to her two goals and assist. She also added a ground ball and a two-for-two mark on free position attempts. Webster was the only other Bulldog with multiple points as she had one goal and one assist.
Ruby Czajkowski (West Hartford, CT) added four draw controls and one ground ball, Natalie Schumann (Murrieta, CA) finished with two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and a draw control. In goal Alyssa Ashley (Vista, CA) played all 60:00 minutes between the posts and picked up a groundball and five saves.
Redlands now prepares for a three-game road trip that begins at Chapman University, who are receiving Top-25 votes from the IWLCA, this Saturday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m.
