CSC Academic Men's At-Large All-Americans

AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's At-Large Academic All-America teams and earning the honor for the University of Redlands were Men's Water Polo players Roberto Barrera (Guanajuato, Mexico) and Andrew Higginson (San Diego, CA). 

Barrera was voted to the 2^nd Team and is majoring in Business Administration, while Higginson landed on the 3^rd Team, while finishing up his MBA.  Both earn recognition for the first time in their careers.

Barrera was the starting goalkeeper for the Bulldogs who finished as the USA Division III Collegiate National Runners-Up in the fall of 2023. He made 205 saves, recorded 28 steals, and had eight assists. For his performance he was named an Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) 2nd Team All-American and was the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Defensive Player of the Year, while collecting 1^st Team All-SCIAC accolades. He also earned ACWPC All-Academic Outstanding (GPA of 4.00-3.71) honors. 

Higginson was second in points with 80 thanks to a team-high 66 goals and 14 assists. He also drew the second most exclusions with 19, added 31 steals, and had six field blocks. He was named the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year, 1^st Team All-SCIAC, was an ACWPC 1st Team All-American, and was an ACWPC All-Academic Outstanding honoree. He was also selected by school administrators and coaches as the 2023-24 Frank Serrao Male Student-Athlete of the Year. 

They were the only two SCIAC selections who were named CSC At-Large Academic All-Americans.
