Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

Redlands Men's Water Polo opens 2024 with a pair of losses against Top-10 Division I programs

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Water Polo team (0-2) played a pair of Division I program's to open their 2024 schedule at the UCSD Triton Invitational dropping their morning game 17-5 to No. 8 UC Davis and then falling 20-3 to No. 3 Stanford University in the afternoon.

Game 1 (No. 3 UC Davis - Lost 17-5)

Nicolas Fedotov (Miami Beach, FL) opened the scoring for Redlands just over a minute into the second quarter. Dean Moody (Camarillo, CA) then made it 7-2 at the 4:07 mark. Brody Nielson (Capitola, CA) made it a 3-1 Bulldog run as the U of R was only down four after trailing by six earlier in the quarter.

In the third Joseph Madigan (Arlington, VA) was able to get the Bulldogs their fourth goal. Then goal number five came from Moody as he recorded his brace.

Game 2 (No. 3 Stanford – Lost 20-3)

In the afternoon match-up Max Wagener (Piedmont, CA) got the Bulldogs on the board in the first with 2:40 on the clock as the Maroon and Grey trailed 4-1.

Just over three minutes into the second quarter Ron Gvishi (Kiryat Tivon, Israel) scored his first goal of the season as it was 8-2 Cardinal.

With :26 seconds left prior to halftime Wagener scored his second as Redlands went into the break down 9-3.

The Bulldogs schedule does not get any easier tomorrow, Sunday, September 8 as they play RV Bucknell University at 8:00 a.m. and then No. 10 Long Beach State at 4:00 p.m.
