U of R Women's Lacrosse takes down Occidental on the road for the first time in nine years

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (2-1, 2-1 SCIAC) picked up their first road win at Occidental College since 2016 Friday night as they edged the Tigers, 15-14 winning their second game on the week.

Trailing 4-1 midway through the first quarter the Bulldogs' Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA) and April Bryant (Danville, CA) scored within a minute of each other to bring the U of R within one.

Ruby Czajkowski (West Hartford, CT) then led a 4-0 run as Redlands went from down three to up two, 7-5, in just eleven minutes thanks to a defensive effort that conceded only goal in that span. The Maroon and Grey took a 9-8 lead into the half after Bryant and Nicole Sanders (Irvine, CA) beat the Tiger keeper.

Down by a goal in the third Sanders and Webster combined for a 3-1 run that reclaimed the lead for UR, 12-11, with 4:22 to play. Briannah McGee (Murrieta, CA) had the assist on Webster's goal.

Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) and Bryant secured the win in the final five minutes of the game with each of them finding the back of the net. The defense finished off the final 12 plus minutes with only one goal allowed after conceding two in the first three minutes of the period.

Czajkowski and Sanders finished with four goals each with Webster and Bryant finding the back of the net three times. Along with her scoring, Bryant continued to be a menace on draw controls totaling 11, tying her for the second most in a single game in program history.

The Bulldogs finished with 22 shots, was 16-for-20 on clear attempts, picked up 20 groundballs, and won 15 draw controls.  They were also 6-of-9 on free-positions.

Redlands will head to the Pacific Northwest to take on Willamette University and Lewis & Clark on March 3 and 5.
