Redlands Women’s Flag Football drops road game with La Sierra

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Flag Football team dropped a road match-up against La Sierra University 36-6 remaining winless on the season. 

It was a one score game after the opening quarter with the Golden Eagles leading 6-0.  They then put up another 12 points in the second period and another 12 in the third to move their lead to 30-0.  Redlands eventually got on the scoreboard in the fourth but La Sierra would tack on one more score to pick up their first win in their inaugural season. 

For the game the Bulldogs totaled 10 first downs and accumulated 190 yards of total offense averaging 3.1 yards per play.  They had 167 yards through the air and another 23 yards rushing.  The defensive unit though would surrender 303 yards of offense (215 Passing/88 Rushing) giving up 6.3 yards per play.

Shyanne Smith (Brentwood, CA), first-year quarterback, had a good outing going 20-for-51 for 167 yards and a touchdown.  She also added eight rushes for 24 yards with a long being of 14.  Valerie Amaro (Beaumont, CA) totaled six catches for 82-yards with a long grab of 42-yards.  Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) had another eight catches for 52-yards and the lone score for the Maroon and Grey and Mikaela Foster (Temecula, CA) hauled in two catches for 25-yards. 

Foster also played on the defensive side of the ball leading the team in tackles with seven (6 solo/1 assisted).  Immoos added four tackles along with an interception with a four-yard return.  Fabiola Ayala Rivera (Ponce, Puerto Rico) then added three tackles and a pass break-up.
On special teams Immoos was also involved with three punts for 100 yards, averaging 33.3 yards per punt, one of which landed inside the 20.         

Redlands returns to the field next week, Thursday, February 5 for their home opener against Hope International with game time to be determined.
