U of R Women's Lacrosse handles Cal Lutheran on senior day

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team (9-4, 5-3 SCIAC) rolled past California Lutheran University (CLU), 22-4, on senior day Saturday afternoon.  Following the win they honored their seven seniors: Jenny Quinonez Diaz (Menlo Park, CA), Jenna Bradford (Anaheim, CA), Cailin Walker (Portland, OR), Emily Webster (Mission Viejo, CA), Natalie Schumann (Murrieta, CA), Jacqueline Landucci (San Mateo, CA), and Mallory Morrissey (Coronado, CA).

The Bulldogs went in front 5-0 in the opening seven minutes thanks to goals from Sophia Rangel (Woodland Hills, CA), Morrissey, Webster, Gwenyth Guico (Camano Island, CA), and Ruby Czajkowski (Charlotte, NC).

After the Regals pulled one back at the 6:23 mark of the first, Czajkowski scored her second consecutive goal in the first of three unanswered for the Maroon and Grey to end the first quarter. April Bryant (Danville, CA) scored her first during the run and Morrissey got her second.

CLU began the second quarter scoring in the first minute, but the Bulldogs would win the quarter 6-2 thanks to Analiese Casillas (Eastvale, CA), Maya Weaver (Tustin, CA), Bryant, Landucci, Vanessa Flexen (Murrieta, CA), and Webster. For Weaver that was her first goal since April 7 of last year.

In the second half it was all Bulldogs as they allowed only one goal defensively and scored eight times. Landucci scored two more times, Walker got her first, and Rangel added another one, as did Webster, before Quinonez Diaz and Bradford each tallied their first of the season.

For Quinonez Diaz, it is her first goal since March 20 of last season and for Bradford it is her first since April 24, 2024 when she had a hat trick against this same CLU team when she played in attack.

As a team the Bulldogs had 12 assists, fifth most in program history, 22 goals, which rank 12th, 34 points ranking 5th, and the 18-goal margin of victory is 10th. It is also their ninth win making this the 14th such season they have had at least that many.

The Bulldogs still have two games remaining on the schedule, the first comes this Wednesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Claremont against No. 25 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS).
