SCIAC Men's Cross-Country Athlete of the Week (Week 1)

REDLANDS, Calif. - University of Redlands senior Stian Asper (St. Paul, MN) has been named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Cross-Country Athlete of the Week following his impressive performance at the Coyote Challenge.

Asper opened the 2026 cross-country season in strong fashion, placing fourth overall in the men's 8-kilometer race with a time of 24:57.7 at California State University, San Bernardino. Two of the three runners who finished ahead of Asper were unattached competitors or NCAA Division II student-athletes, making Asper the top Division III finisher in the race.

The St. Paul, Minnesota, native helped lead the Bulldogs to a seventh-place team finish, while placing ahead of fellow SCIAC competitors from Caltech and the University of La Verne.
The Bulldogs will have this weekend off before returning to competition at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, September 19.
