Jamie Zantua

After serving as the Bulldogs' Assistant Coach since 2016, Jamie Zantua seamlessly transitioned into the role of Head Coach in July 2018. Zantua was also named the Head Women's Golf Coach in January 2023, becoming the first full-time head golf coach in the history of the men's or women's program. In addition, he maintains his position of Assistant Golf Professional at Redlands Country Club.

2024-25

Men: Were the SCIAC Championship runner-up. With multiple weather delays through two rounds at the NCAA Championships, the Bulldogs missed the top-18 cut after they lost a three-team playoff as they finished tied for 17th. As a team they played 98 rounds in 2024-25 with a total score of 7,165 which averaged out to 73.11 per golfer per round, the lowest in program history and the fifth-straight season under Zantua that the Bulldogs have dropped their team average.

Aaron Buck, Jake Yim, and Jonas DeLeon all shot 66s, tying them for the fifth-lowest single round scores in program history. Buck and DeLeon posted 70.63 and 71.0 single-round season averages, the new two best averages in program history, displacing Bobby Holden's record of 71.38 from 2013-14. Yim came in 10th with a 73.36. Buck (second team) and DeLeon (honorable mention) were also named GCAA All-Americans. DeLeon made the All-SCIAC first team and Yim, Buck, and Damon Bartells were on the second team.

Women: Finished fourth at the SCIAC Championships, but still qualified for the NCAA Championships thanks to a strong regular season. At the NCAA Championships they took sixth, the fifth consecutive season inside the top-six.

Savanah Christenson, Jizelle Robledo, and Rena Kaneko all made the All-SCIAC second team with Kaneko being named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year. Kaneko was also named a WGCA Honorable Mention All-American.

Record wise Kaneko shot a 67, the third-lowest round in program history. She averaged a 75.6 across 25 rounds which places her 10th in single-season history. Chloe Phan averaged a 77.0, the 19th-lowest. Jett Legacion finished her career with a 78.567 (8th-lowest) across 37 rounds in two seasons with Redlands. As a team they had a 284 during the first round of the SCIAC Championships, the second-lowest in program history. They also had three-round totals of 889 and 892 at the NCAA and SCIAC Championships which are the second and third-lowest.

2023-24


Men: Had two tournament wins heading into the SCIAC Championships where they carried the momentum to their first team title since 2015. At the NCAA Championships they were third, first, and second after each of the first three rounds before they eventually landed in fifth. Aaron Buck made All-SCIAC First Team and Spencer Leader was on the second team. Buck and Jonas DeLeon each received Golf Coaches Association of America Honorable Mention All-America honor. The first Bulldogs to do so since 2018-19.

Women: Three tournament wins. Also took third at the SCIAC Championships. Came in sixth at the NCAA Championships. Andrea York, Iris Liu, and Chloe Phan made All-SCIAC. York and Phan were first and second team All-Americans.

2022-23


Men: Won two tournaments and took third at the SCIAC Championships. Aaron Buck, Joshua Fambro, and Spencer Leader each posted new top-20 single round scores. Buck and Fambro were named first and second team All-SCIAC. 

Women: After taking over the program in January, the team won four tournaments. At the SCIAC Championships they took third but earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Championships. In Florida the Bulldogs took advantage of their opportunity and took sixth. Hannah Jugar, Andrea York, Iris Liu, and Kendall Nicholson made All-SCIAC. Jugar, Nicholson, and York were named All-Americans.

2021-22

Men:The Bulldogs had three runner-up finishes: ERAU Fall Invitational (Oct. 12), SCIAC Tournament No. 1 (Feb. 27), and the SCIAC Championships (Apr. 26). During the season the Bulldogs got as high as No. 18 in the national rankings. Kyle Sharp was named the SCIAC Golfer of the Week (Mar. 15) as was Joshua Fambro (Apr. 11).

Fambro and Sharp were named to the All-SCIAC First Team and Jared Stone was named to the second team.

Zantua brings nearly 12 years of working, teaching, and coaching in the golf industry. Currently a registered PGA Apprentice, he is on his way to becoming a PGA Member through additional education and training. He strives to become a certified PGA Professional while sharing his love for the game of golf.

As the Bulldogs' Assistant Coach, Zantua scheduled practice rounds, ran qualifiers to determine the top players for upcoming tournaments, and managed on-course competition with the team. At Redlands Country Club, he assists the Head Golf Professional with daily operations, including the organization of member events, providing daily instruction, and leading clinics.

Prior to making the move to the Redlands area, Zantua worked with the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino as the Assistant Men's Golf Coach. He also gained experience as the Assistant Golf Professional at Arrowhead Country Club.

When not on the golf course, Zantua enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife Michelle, and children Jordan, Kalaya, and Adalyn.  He also likes to travel, go fishing, and play basketball.
