Alexa Banos is a certified Athletic Trainer currently serving as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Redlands, where she provides comprehensive sports medicine care for multiple athletic programs.
With her Master's of Science in Athletic Training from California State University Long Beach and NATA Board of Certification credentials, Alexa brings expertise in injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care to collegiate athletics.
In her current role, Alexa manages primary care for five fall sports and additional non-traditional season programs, overseeing injury evaluation, treatment protocols, and rehabilitation programs for 22 sports. Her clinical expertise includes managing complex injuries such as PCL tears, dislocated elbows, AC joint sprains, and various musculoskeletal conditions. She is proficient in advanced therapeutic techniques including instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (Graston technique), joint mobilizations, active release therapy, and electrical modalities.
Alexa's experience spans multiple levels of athletics, from high school to professional baseball through her internship with the MLB Urban Youth Academy. Her diverse clinical rotations have included prestigious programs at UCLA Track and Field/Cross Country, where she developed specialized rehabilitation protocols for stress fractures, hamstring strains, and lumbar disc injuries. She has also gained valuable experience working with baseball programs at Cal State Long Beach and various community college athletic departments.
Beyond direct patient care, Alexa demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills through her responsibilities in concussion management protocols, emergency action planning, and supervision of student athletic training staff. Her commitment to comprehensive care extends to coordinating with physicians, managing electronic medical records, and maintaining clear communication with coaching staff regarding athlete status and return-to-play decisions.
Alexa holds American Red Cross CPR-AED certification for Professional Rescuers and maintains her continuing education requirements to stay current with evolving best practices in sports medicine and athletic training.
