Senior Defender Jameson Martin Lands on CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

It was announced earlier today that senior defender Jameson Martin (Temecula, CA) earned a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for the College Division. He was one of four defenders named to the 11-man squad among NAIA and NCAA Division II and Division III schools.

This season, Martin has competed in all 18 games, anchoring the Bulldog defense that has given up only 11 goals for a goals-against-average of 0.61. In addition, his contributions have led to 11 shut-outs. With his tenacious style of play, he has been instrumental in the team’s seventh-consecutive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) title. In 2006, Martin landed on the All-SCIAC First Team and helped the Bulldogs advance to the NCAA Championships for the sixth-straight season. He also has excelled in the classroom, earning Dean’s List and Redlands Scholar-Athlete honors while boasting a 3.68 cumulative GPA as a Business and Accounting major.

Martin now moves onto the national ballot for possible CoSIDA Academic All-American recognition.

Redlands (15-3, 12-2 SCIAC) hosts the first-ever SCIAC Men’s Soccer Postseason Tournament tonight at Farquhar Field. Cal Lutheran University and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges face off at 5 p.m. as the #2 and #3 seeds, respectively. The top-seeded Bulldogs take on #4 University of La Verne at 7:30 p.m. Tonight’s winners will play for the NCAA automatic bid on Saturday at a time to be determined. The remaining top seed will serve as host for the championship game.
