Redlands Volleyball Honors Seniors with Sweep of Occidental

The University of Redlands hosted the Tigers of Occidental College in its final home, regular season match and cruised to a 3-0 sweep during Senior Night. Following a somewhat slow start, the Bulldogs dominated play and won their final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match by scores of 30-21, 30-15, 30-14.

The first game saw 13 tie scores and five lead-changes, until freshman middle blocker Megan Phillips (Vista, CA) served consecutive points for the Bulldogs. In the second game, Redlands relinquished the lead only once before pulling away for the easy victory. Finally, the Bulldogs maintained control during the third game, boasting their best hitting percentage of the night at .257.

Leading the charge for Redlands, freshman outside hitter Jackie Hamilton (Loma Linda, CA) led the mach with 15 kills for an impressive mark of .519 on 27 attempts. Senior outside hitter (Honolulu, HI) Lori Nakamura also performed well, racking up 11 kills to add to her all-time Redlands career record of 922 kills. Senior right-side hitter Cassie McEuen (Mountain View, CA) chipped in nine kills to finish out her four-year stint with the Bulldogs. Phillips posted 10 digs and five service aces while sophomore libero Lauren Harding (Altadena, CA) tallied a match-leading 18 digs.

The Bulldogs wrapped up the regular season with a record of 15-15 overall and a SCIAC mark of 8-6, finishing fourth in the standings.
