After taking a weeklong break, the University of Redlands
volleyball team returned to action on Oct. 18, falling in three
sets to Chapman University by scores of 14-25, 13-25, 17-25 in
Orange.
Redlands defeated Chapman 3-2 this season on Sept. 27 and edged the
Panthers in a thrilling five-set victory.
Leading the way offensively for the Bulldogs was junior outside
hitter Katy Douglass (Roseville, CA) who compiled six kills on the
afternoon. On setting duty, junior setter Kelina Smith (Kurtistown,
HI) tallied 19 assists.
Defensively, sophomore libero/defensive specialist Chelsea Arcaris
(Vista, CA) and senior libero/defensive specialist Dory Baga (Aiea,
HI) posted double-digit figures in digs, compiling 13 and 10,
respectively.
Sophomore middle blocker Megan Phillips (Vista, CA) also
contributed to the effort with two block assists and one solo
block.
Jill Felger racked up 14 kills for the Panthers, leading all
student-athletes in the match. Kat Kowalski provided 42 assists
while Linda Ly supplied 22 digs.
Redlands (10-11, 4-4 SCIAC) travels to Occidental College on
Tuesday, Oct. 21 to face the Tigers for a 7:30 p.m. start.
