The University of Redlands volleyball team moved over the .500
mark in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(SCIAC) standings on Tuesday, Oct. 21 as the Bulldogs defeated
Occidental College by a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-17) final.
Sophomore middle blocker Megan Phillips (Vista, CA) and sophomore
outside hitter Jackie Hamilton (Loma Linda, CA) led the way for the
maroon and gray offensively, compiling eight kills apiece. Both
proved to be efficient as well as Phillips posted a .300 hitting
percentage while Hamilton accumulated a .286 hitting
percentage.
Taking sole control of the setting duties, junior setter Kelina
Smith (Kurtistown, HI) tallied 26 assists.
Two Bulldogs boasted double-digit dig totals as Hamilton and senior
libero/defensive specialist Dory Baga (Aiea, HI) nabbed 22 and 20
digs, respectively.
Redlands (11-11, 5-4 SCIAC) faces a tough test on Friday, Oct. 24
when it faces No. 3 University of La Verne in Currier Gym at 7:30
p.m.
