The No. 13 University of Redlands men's water polo team
moved to 6-0 in conference play as the squad won 15-5 against
Whittier College on Wednesday in a Senior Night game at the
Thompson Aquatic Center.
Senior driver Andrew Becskehazy (Miami, FL), junior center Brendan
Meaney (Palm Desert, CA) and sophomore defender Andrew Smith-Jones
(Annapolis, MD) paced the Bulldog offense, scoring two goals
apiece. Also contributing scores were sophomore center Miran Terzic
(Mostar, Bosna i Hercegovina), senior utility player Buddy Olds
(Murrieta, CA), junior driver Brent Dotters (Porterville, CA),
junior utility player Jim Kehrig (Danville, CA), junior utility
player Ian Starkie (Arroyo Grande, CA), freshman driver Ben Ballard
(Riverside, CA), junior utility player Ryan Floersch (San Jose,
CA), junior defender John Floersch (San Jose, CA) and senior
defender Jon Rielly (Vista, CA).
In goal, senior goalkeeper Teddy Trowbridge (Mercer Island, WA) and
junior goalkeeper Jack Amaral (Porterville, CA) stonewalled the
Poets, saving five and two shots, respectively.
Whittier's Lincoln Haley scored a game-high three goals for
the Poets while Chris Villanueva tallied two. Tending the net,
Casey Regehr provided six saves.
Redlands (23-7, 6-0 SCIAC) travels to Claremont to take on
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday at 11 a.m.
