Sophomore defender Andrew Smith-Jones (Annapolis, MD) and senior
driver Andrew Becskehazy (Miami, FL) scored four goals apiece to
lead the 13th-ranked University of Redlands men's water polo
team over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges by a 15-12 final on
Saturday in Claremont.
In addition, sophomore center Miran Terzic (Mostar, Bosna i
Hercegovina) and junior center Brendan Meaney (Palm Desert, CA)
each found the back of the net twice while senior utility player
Buddy Olds (Murrieta, CA), senior defender Jon Reilly (Vista, CA)
and junior utility player Jim Kehrig (Danville, CA) tallied one
score apiece.
The Bulldog goalkeepers split time tending the net as junior
goalkeeper Jack Amaral (Porterville, CA) and senior goalkeeper
Teddy Trowbridge (Mercer Island, WA) notched nine and two saves,
respectively.
Vincent Schiavoni led the Stags in goals with four while Sean
Wasserman saved 10 shots on the afternoon.
Redlands (24-7, 7-0 SCIAC) finished out the regular season
undefeated in conference play. The team takes on Caltech at 1 p.m.
on Saturday in Thousand Oaks for the first round of the 2008
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC)
Men's Water Polo Championship Tournament.
