The University of Redlands men's water polo team honored
its seniors with a 9-6 Senior Day triumph over
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday evening at the Thompson
Aquatic Center.
Fittingly, senior student-athletes accounted for all nine of
Redlands' goals. Senior center Ryan Floersch (San Jose, CA)
led the team with three while senior drivers Marc Hicks (Granada
Hills, CA) and Erik Grosshans (Oxnard, CA) put away two apiece.
Senior driver Clint Stevenson (South Jordan, UT) and senior central
defender Ian Starkie (Arroyo Grande, CA) each added one score to
spell out the team's final tally.
Minding the Bulldog cage, senior goalkeeper Teddy Trowbridge
(Mercer Island, WA) stopped seven shots.
Redlands (14-16, 6-1 SCIAC) competes in the Southern California
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship Tournament
from Friday through Sunday, hoping to return to campus as SCIAC
champions. The Bulldogs last won a SCIAC championship in 2006 when
it went 8-0 in regular-season conference play and then solidified
its spot with a 7-5 win against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in the
championship game. In all, the program owns seven titles to its
credit.
