The University of Redlands men's soccer program continued its
success against Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (SCIAC) foes with a 6-0 rout against the Beavers of
Caltech on Saturday.
With the win, the Bulldogs remain undefeated in conference play
and atop the SCIAC standings with an 8-0-2 record.
Junior forward Jamie Griffin
(Seattle, WA) initiated the scoring for the Maroon and Gray as he
netted two goals within the first 12 minutes, giving him five on
the year. Junior forward Cody Carlson
(Burbank, CA) and sophomore midfielder Gabe Ramirez
(Pasadena, CA) provided the assists on Griffin's respective
scores.
Taking advantage of a penalty kick, senior midfielder Ethan Low (Langley, WA)
found the back of the net at the 26th minute, pushing Redlands up
by a score of 3-0.
Just before the end of the first half, freshman
midfielder Pat Roraff
(Redlands, CA) maintained his recent hot streak as he posted his
third goal in as many games when he connected with sophomore
forward Alex
Laughton's (Pleasanton, CA) pass.
Redlands kept the pressure on the Beavers in the second half as
Carlson, the team's leading goal-scorer, increased his total to
eight in 2010. Griffin assisted on the play, resulting in a
season-high five points in the game.
Roraff capped off the match as he recorded his second goal and
his first career multi-score game. Junior midfielder Garrett Cottam
(Taos, NM) registered his first point on the current campaign as
the struck the through-ball to set up Roraff's score.
With the combination of three different goalkeepers, the
Bulldogs posted their third shutout in the last four matches.
The Bulldogs (9-1-2, 8-0-2 SCIAC) return to action on Wednesday
as they travel to take on the Stags of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Colleges at 7 p.m.
