Box Score 2 On Friday afternoon, the University of Redlands volleyball team
faced off against the University of La Verne for the second time
this week but came up short in its latest encounter by scores of
10-25, 18-25, 25-21,16-25.
The Bulldogs also took on Caltech later that day, garnering a
solid 3-0 sweep of the Beavers by scores of 25-9, 25-7, 25-9.
Against the Beavers, Redlands posted an impressive hitting
percentage of .429 with sophomore middle blocker Dominique Atherley
(Bainbridge Island, WA) leading the charge at a .615 clip. She
knocked down nine kills on 13 attempts with only one error.
Senior outside hitter Jackie Hamilton (Loma Linda, CA) supplied
a match-high 15 kills for a .500 mark, while sophomore outside
hitter Sam Dodson (Alamogordo, NM) and senior middle blocker Kirby
McCord (Huntington Beach, CA) recorded six kills each.
Freshman libero Gabriela Levesque (Santa Monica, CA) came up
with a match-leading 22 digs as freshman setter Alisha Cornick
(Hollister, CA) dished out 30 assists.
Against La Verne, the Bulldogs struggled offensively, hitting
.089 as a group. However, freshman outside hitter Morgan Buckner
(San Rafael, CA) registered an impressive mark of .375, which came
off of 12 kills, no errors, and 32 attempts.
Senior libero Chelsea Arcaris (Vista, CA) tallied a match-high
19 digs from the back row.
The Bulldogs (17-9, 5-6 SCIAC) currently sit in fifth place in
the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC)
standings and face fourth-place foe Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on
Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Currier Gym.
