Box Score The University of Redlands volleyball team made it two in a row
with tonight's sweep of visiting Caltech in a Southern California
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match in Currier Gym.
The Bulldogs took the early lead in all three sets with the only
tie score coming in the final stanza en route to the 25-9, 25-8,
25-12 thrashing of the Beavers.
The Bulldogs posted their second-highest offensive output of the
season with a .358 hitting percentage, which came off of 30 kills
on 67 attempts with just six errors.
Head Coach Mari Burningham utilized 15 players in the victory
with eight of them recording at least one kill. Freshman outside
hitter Morgan
Buckner (San Rafael, CA) led the onslaught with nine kills on a
hitting percentage of .304. Senior outside hitter Jackie Hamilton
(Loma Linda, CA) added eight kills on just 13 attacks for a .538
showing.
Freshman setters Alisha
Cornick (Hollister, CA) and Jennifer
Wacker (Longmont, CO) shared setting responsibilities once
again, earning 12 and 10 assists, respectively.
Defensively, the team gained a match-high 13 digs from senior
libero Chelsea Arcaris
(Vista, CA), while freshman libero Brittney
Overgaag (Palm Desert, CA) tallied 12.
For the Beavers, junior outside hitter Teri Juarez (El Paso, TX)
supplied four kills as senior libero Ying Ying Tran (Princeton
Junction, NJ) posted 11 digs.
Redlands (11-2, 1-1 SCIAC) heads to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on
Saturday for its fifth match of the week, taking on the Sagehens at
6 p.m. in a conference tilt.
