No. 25 Redlands Volleyball Drops 1-3 Decision to Pomona-Pitzer

The No. 25 University of Redlands volleyball team suffered a difficult 1-3 loss to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday night, succumbing to the Sagehens in four sets, 23-25, 12-25, 26-24, 16-25, in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match.

The Bulldogs failed to put together an effective offense against a relentless Pomona-Pitzer defense, which accumulated 20 more digs than Redlands.  The Maroon and Gray mustered a .116 hitting percentage, compared to the Sagehens' mark of .283.

Senior middle blocker Megan Phillips (Vista, CA) and freshman outside hitter Morgan Buckner (San Rafael, CA) carried the Bulldogs with 10 kills apiece.  Senior libero Chelsea Arcaris (Vista, CA) supplied a match-high 35 digs, while freshman setter Jennifer Wacker (Longmont, CO) distributed 24 assists for the Maroon and Gray.

Pomona-Pitzer gained an impressive showing from sophomore middle blocker Rachel Bollens, who knocked down a match-high 17 kills en route to a .500 hitting percentage.  Three other Sagehens supplied double-digit kills to lead to a team total of 64.  Junior setter Kenzie Aries dished out 44 assists and came up with a team-leading 27 digs in the process.

Redlands (11-3, 1-2 SCIAC) looks to get back on track when it heads to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. SCIAC showdown with the Athenas.
