The University of Redlands men's soccer team remains atop the
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC)
standings with Wednesday's 4-0 thrashing of Cal Lutheran University
in Thousand Oaks.
The Bulldogs currently hold a 19-game unbeaten streak over the
Kingsmen, dating back to Oct. 7, 2001.
On Wednesday, both squads kept the match very tight in the first
half, leading to a scoreless tie after 45 minutes of play.
Just 13 minutes into the second period, senior midfielder John
Brookover (Boise, ID) posted his first score of the season when
he took advantage of a goal-mouth scramble.
Redlands capitalized moments later as sophomore midfielder Gabe Ramirez
(Pasaenda, CA) notched his team-leading third assist of the year by
connecting with junior defender Danny Day (Beaverton,
OR) in the middle of the penalty area for the score.
Senior midfielder Ethan Low (Langley, WA)
made it a 3-0 game when he recorded his third goal of the
season. Sophomore defender Jensen Brehm
(Bellevue, WA) crossed the ball to the center box, earning the
assist, as Low rocketed one to the near side.
At 85:52 into the game, sophomore forward Noah Prudhomme
(San Anselmo, CA) put the game away for Redlands as he took a
deflected pass and made a run at the goal, tallying his first score
of the 2010 campaign.
Freshman goalkeeper Andreas
Silva (San Jose, CA) garnered the shutout victory with two
saves.
The Bulldogs travel to Occidental College for their next
match-up on Saturday at 1 p.m.
