The Bulldogs fired off a .333 hitting percentage in the opening set to secure the early momentum that carried through the final play of the match.
Redlands jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the first stanza and never looked back. With a solid offense and formidable serving, the Maroon and Gray easily remained in control of the outcome.
During the second set, a 9-2 advantage held up as the Bulldogs combated Caltech's most efficient attack, which registered a clip of .207.
The Beavers continued to fight, temporarily stealing the momentum for early leads at 6-3 and again at 7-5 in the third set. But this shift was short-lived as the Bulldogs stormed back to earn a four-point advantage at 13-9 and eventually secured the three-set sweep.
A pair of middle blockers dominated the offensive statistics for Redlands. Freshman Maddi Clark (Escondido, CA) uncorked a .636 hitting percentage, highlighted by three Redlands' kills in a row during the third stanza. Her counterpart, junior Alexa Herlosky (Henderson, NV), registered eight kills for a .400 showing.
Sophomore setter Jennifer Wacker (Longmont, CO) distributed 22 assists and supplied 10 digs for the Bulldogs.
Redlands (2-13, 2-6 SCIAC) looks forward to a change of pace by competing in the CLU Posada Royale Classic on Friday and Saturday in Thousand Oaks. The Bulldogs face the University of Mary Washington (VA) at12:30 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. bout with Rhodes College (TN).
