No. 13 Redlands Men's Soccer Downs Caltech in 4-0 SCIAC Showing

Box Score

The No. 13 University of Redlands men's soccer team took on the Beavers of Caltech in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match up on Saturday afternoon on Farquhar Field. The Bulldogs took an incredible 33 shots and showed great depth in their 4-0 victory over the Beavers.

With this win, Redlands clinches a spot in the upcoming conference postseason tournament.

The Maroon and Gray wasted no time in jumping on the board when junior defender Keoni Yates (Kailua-Kona, HI) served a great ball to the middle of the box that found the head of junior midfielder Casey ChubbFertal (Eugene, OR) for the score.

Following a corner kick from junior midfielder Cameron Doody (Arvada, CO) in the 12th minute, there was a mad scramble in front of the goal, which led to Caltech knocking the ball through the posts for an own goal.

Redlands continued to press offensively, with junior forward Chase Boone (Beaverton, OR) blasting off a nice shot that deflected off the Caltech keeper.  Senior midfielder Isaac Bogart (Lynden, WA) took a great touch to sophomore forward Kayvon Parsa (West Hills, CA), who chipped it in for the Bulldogs' third goal of the opening half.

However, Parsa was not done yet, as he put another goal through the posts off of a nice cross from junior forward Alexander Knox (Seattle, WA) to make it 4-0 in the 67th minute.

While utilizing the team's great depth, Redlands saw freshman forward Ryan Sayler (Missoula, MT) and freshman midfielder Oswaldo Magallanes (Juneau, AK) each unleash a shot, while freshman defender Rudy Frayre (Santa Monica, CA) took two.

In a stellar defensive performance, the Bulldogs only allowed one Beaver shot.  With the game well in hand, Redlands played freshman goalkeeper Noah Natividad (San Diego, CA) for the final 16 minutes in his first collegiate appearance.

The Bulldogs (13-2-0, 11-1-0 SCIAC) continue to roll as they travel to Claremont to face the Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens in a SCIAC showdown on Monday, October 17. Game time is slotted for 4 p.m.
