Box Score

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Basketball team continued their dominance in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play Saturday night rolling to the 102-71 win over California Lutheran University inside Currier Gym.

Redlands who is currently Receiving Votes in the d3hoops.com National Polls improves to 12-3, 6-0 SCIAC, have won six in a row, dating back to December 29.

The Bulldogs led by as many as 39 in the second half as Cameron Brown (Bakersfield, CA) followed up his career-high 27 points at Chapman University Wednesday night with 26 points and a career-high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.  Robert Power (Pacific Palisades, CA) added 18 points off the bench (four points off his career high from 2021), knocking down five triples (career high), Chozen Amadi (Dallas, TX) posted 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting with five rebounds and Josh Himel (Jacksonville, FL) chipped in with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting in 15 minutes of action.

The Bulldogs were never tested in this game jumping all over the Kingsmen from the opening tip, holding an early 11-2 advantage three minutes into the game. Brown scored six points, Nathaniel Johnson (Seattle, WA) added a pair, and Colin McCarthy (Redwood City, CA) came off the bench and hit a three off a Khyree Armstead (Mountlake Terrace, WA) assist.

At the 14:28 mark Cal Hansen (Burien, WA) made a layup and gave the Bulldogs their first double-digit lead. Then over the final ten minutes of the half the Bulldogs used a 26-13 run to take a 47-24 lead into the break.

In the second half Redlands slowly grew their lead to 30 points with 13:37 on the clock. The 30-point threshold was hit following a pair of Brown free throws, fitting for the player that has now scored 28% of the Bulldogs' points their last two games.

The Kingsmen continued to fight though, getting back within 25, 69-44, two minutes later.  But the offensive juggernaut in the Bulldogs continued to power forward with Himel and Power combining to hit three triples off the bench to extend the lead to 35, 82-47, with nine minutes left.

With six minutes left Amadi nearly gave the Bulldogs a 40-point lead with a three off a Sam Abere (Lake Oswego, OR) assist, but the Kingsmen would go on to score 11 of the next 14 points.

The Bulldogs hit triple-digits, for the fourth time this season, on a Lucas Gordon (San Marcos, CA) layup as they closed out the win, 102-71.

As a team Redlands tied a season-high (at Pomona-Pitzer, Jan. 7) with 16 made threes. They have now won six-straight when making 10 or more three-pointers after losing their opener to Mary Hardin-Baylor when they made 14 triples.

Redlands was red hot from the floor shooting 50.7% from the field, 50% from three-point territory and 53.8% from the free-throw line.  UR hauled in 40 rebounds, 36 points in the paint, added 20 assists, forced 21 turnovers and picked up 28 points off them.

The Bulldogs will host No. 18 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (13-2, 5-1) inside Currier Gym next Wednesday, January 18 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
