Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

U of R Women’s Soccer held scoreless in loss to McMurry

ABILENE, Tex. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team began their trip to Abilene, TX with a 3-0 loss to McMurry University Friday evening.

The Bulldogs have now dropped three in a row, while McMurry improves to 4-0 on the season.

It was a highly contested opening 45:00 minutes as UR took nine shots giving themselves opportunities.  McMurry added the eventual game-winner two minutes in off the foot of Jaelynn Portillo capitalizing off a corner kick.  The War Hawks added insurance in the 26th minute as Alexis Lira would finish a set piece and with 15:00 minutes left before the half Brook Boyer would give McMurry their third of the period as they went into the break up 3-0.

Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) had a great chance to tie the game up in the 24th minute putting a low ball on framwe but it would be picked up by the War Hawk keeper.  In the 33rd minute Natalie Turiace (San Dimas, CA) put a shot on target going high, but again McMurry's keeper would deny it.  Turiace came out of the half and created a spark for the Maroon and Grey creating an opportunity going bottom center that was stopped by War Hawk keeper Cortlynn Boone.

Then midway through the half Kalysta Pallais (San Jose, CA) would find space unloading a shot that would miss high.  This would be the final look for UR as they would be held scoreless.

Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) played 85:23 in goal finishing with five saves.  Turiace took five shots on the game two of which were on goal and Semmere tacked on two more attempts with one on frame.

Redlands still searches for their first win of 2023 and will get another chance tomorrow, Saturday, September 8 when they take on Hardin-Simmons beginning at 5:00pm CST.
