Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Loescher scores twice in first five minutes as Redlands Women's Soccer defeats Caltech 4-2

PASADENA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team picked up a 4-2 win Wednesday afternoon against the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) thanks to a four-goal first half.

The first two goals of the game for the Maroon and Grey were connections from Caprial Loescher (Portland, OR) as Kelsey Williams (Murrieta, CA) and Natalie Turiace (San Dimas, CA) each picked up assists in the first five minutes.

Turiace, Elena Pinto (Kent, WA), and Natalie Schumann (Murrieta, CA) all had shots that forced saves soon after before Jaiden Riodil (Tigard, OR) found Turiace for her first of the day and second on the season as it was 3-0 Bulldogs in the first 24 minutes.

Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) kept the Beavers scoreless with a pair of saves late in the half before Laura Bagley (Bend, OR) found Gianna Alati (Lake Oswego, OR) with less than two minutes to go before the break giving the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead after 45 minutes.

In the opening 20 minutes of the second half the U of R got a shot on target by Jessica Chavez (Cayucos, CA).  Caltech then responded testing Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) twice, both of which were saved.  They then put another two on target, which both found the back of the net.

Despite the fast start to the half for the Beavers, the Bulldogs settled in defensively, allowing only one more shot on target the rest of the game.

On the other side of the field Redlands forced seven saves, including three from Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) and another from CJ Akroush (Pasadena, CA), but none of them were able to beat the keeper.

The Bulldogs dominated the game, holding a 29-11 shot advantage, a 17-6 shot on-goal edge, took seven more corner kicks (8-1), and played clean soccer with only three fouls committed.

After splitting their two-game road trip the Bulldogs return to Farquhar Field this Saturday, October 12 when they host No. 14 California Lutheran University at 11:00 a.m.
