REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Tennis team wrapped up their third match in four days Sunday beating No. 40 Occidental College 6-2 at the Verdieck Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs improve to 2-1 and put together an impressive showing sweeping all six singles matches.

Redlands found themselves in an early hole after doubles 2-1.  The No. 2 team of Nico Calixto (Cathedral City, CA) and Yoav Nir (Tel Aviv, Israel) rolled 8-0 at No. 2 doubles grabbing the first point for the Maroon and Grey.  But after that it would be the Tigers taking the next two points.  MJ Abarca (San Diego, CA) and Jax Ledwith (West Linn, OR) would fall 8-4 at No. 1 and Dominic Anderson (Brisbane, Australia) and Jack Fanshawe (Brisbane, Australia) would drop an 8-6 decision at No. 3.

Things changed quickly for the Bulldogs in singles taking all six matches with five of six being in straight sets.  First-Year Gustavo Marcanth (Redondo Beach, CA) made quick work of his opponent at No. 5 winning 6-1, 6-1 giving UR their second point.  Anderson then put Redlands on top 3-2 with a win at No. 3 6-1, 6-2.  The momentum carried over to No. 6 with Josh Davydov (Bellevue, WA) rolling 6-1, 6-3 moving the score to 4-2 and Ledwith would pick up the clinch at No. 4 using a break in each set to take the 7-5, 6-3 win.

The last two matches on were Nir at No. 2 who would grind out a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win and Calixto at the top spot who would go the distance pulling out a 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 victory giving UR the clean sweep,
