No. 10 Bulldog Women’s Tennis blanks No. 26 Mary Washington 9-0

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team blanked No. 26 University of Mary Washington 9-0 Friday afternoon at the Verdieck Tennis Center improving to 4-0 on the season.

All four victories on the season for the Maroon and Grey have been against ranked opponents. 

Interim Head Coach Jake De Vries made some adjustments to his lineup due to injuries but still managed to come away with the clean sweep.  In doubles it was a battle but the U of R found a way.  Maegan Deng (Redondo Beach, CA) and Livi Rockwood (Park City, UT) picked up the first point 8-4 at No. 1.  Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) and Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) who moved up to No. 2 pulled out an 8-6 win and at No. 3 Gabby Rockwood (Park City, UT) and Deja Brown (San Diego, CA) would grind out an 8-6 win putting the Bulldogs up 3-0 heading into singles. 

The momentum carried over beginning with Brady at No. 2 who rolled 6-0, 6-1.  The clinch then came at No. 4 from Kaylin Kielty (Canyon Lake, CA) who needed two sets to win 6-2, 6-1.  L. Rockwood followed winning at No. 3 6-2, 6-3 and Deng used a break in each set to win 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1.

O'Brien moved into the singles line-up at No. 6 and she grabbed the eighth win for the Bulldogs needing a tiebreaker 7-6 (0) before taking the second set 6-1.  The last match on was Brown who moved up to No. 5 for the first time.  She faced a tough test but managed to grind out a 6-4, 6-4 win helping Redlands grab the clean sweep.   

Redlands has a busy week coming up beginning with No. 13 Babson College on Tuesday, March 12 beginning at 2:00pm.
