Redlands Women's Lacrosse scores 24 times in blowout win over California Lutheran

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (3-4, 1-3 SCIAC) won their first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game as their offense scored 24 times en route to a 24-14 win over California Lutheran University (CLU) on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Farquhar Field. The 24 goals are tied for third most in a single game in program history.

Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA) found Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) for the opening goal only :19 seconds into the game. That is the eighth fastest goal to begin a game in program history.

The Regals then scored the next two before Walker, Ruby Czajkowski (West Hartford, CT), and Webster scored as the lead was three, 5-2, with 3:10 left in the opening quarter.

Over the final minute of the first and the first four minutes of the second the Bulldogs went on an 8-0 run as they held a 10-goal advantage. Celine Flaig (Redondo Beach, CA), Czajkowski, Maya Weaver (Tustin, CA), and Ella Batarse (Porter Ranch, CA) were able to beat the Regal keeper during the run.

At the 5:53 mark of the second Walker finished an unassisted goal to make it 15-5, but over the final 4:17 of the half CLU scored three unanswered before opening the third with another goal as it was only a six-goal lead, 15-9.

Flaig and company would extinguish any comeback attempt as they scored eight goals over the course of 12:08 as the game became a blowout 23-9 with 1:59 left in the third.

The 24th goal came at the 1:49 mark of the fourth with Catie Ramicone (Countryside, Ill.) finding Czajkowski making the final score 24-14.

The Bulldogs finished with 32 team points, the sixth most in program history. Walker finished with four goals and four assists as she had eight points, the 12th most, Weaver finished with 10 draw controls, which was the ninth most.  Alyssa Ashley (Vista, CA) picked up the win between the posts collecting seven saves playing all 60:00 minutes to go with four groundballs and three caused turnovers.

Redlands will head on the road for a trip to Whittier College this Wednesday, March 20 beginning at 7:00 p.m. as they will look for their first road SCIAC win.
