THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Tennis team faced a five-hour rain delay Sunday afternoon forcing their match with California Lutheran University to be pushed back into the evening.

The delay would not hinder the Maroon and Grey though as they would come away with a clean sweep 9-0 improving to 11-6, 4-2 SCIAC.

Dominic Anderson (Brisbane, Australia) and Gustavo Marcanth (Redondo Beach, CA) got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard quickly winning 8-0 at No. 2.  Nico Calixto (Cathedral City, CA) and Tyler Pyle (Lake Oswego, OR) were then paired together at No. 3 for the first time and they would pull out an 8-6 win moving the score to 2-0.  The last match on was at No. 1 with MJ Abarca (Chula Vista, CA) and Jack Fanshawe (Brisbane, Australia) holding on to win 8-5 giving UR an early 3-0 lead.

Five of six singles matches were in straight sets.  Calixto keeps his winning streak going as he would roll 6-3, 6-2 at the top spot.  His lone loss in conference is to CMS in three sets.  The clinch came at No. 2 from Anderson who would need a late break in both sets to win 7-5, 6-4.  Cooper Whittington (Lake Oswego, OR) moved up to No. 5 and he would make the score 6-0 following a 7-6 (2), 6-3 decision.

Jax Ledwith (West Linn, OR) moved up to No. 4 and he too had a battle needing a late break in each set to win 7-5, 7-5.  Zac Nakajima (Beaverton, OR) made his way back into the singles lineup at No. 6 and he would be pushed to a third set.  He rolled 6-1 in the opening set before dropping the second in a breaker 7-6 (5).  He would then hold on in a third set breaker 10-5 to move the score to 7-0.

The last match on was Josh Davydov (Bellevue, WA) at No. 3 who would also take his match in straight sets, needing a breaker in the first set 7-6 (3) before holding on 6-4 in the second.

Redlands returns to the court this Friday, April 19 when they host No. 20 Caltech at the Verdieck Tennis Center beginning at 5:00pm.
