Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Redlands Women's Water Polo holds No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer to 13 goals, but lose 13-4

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team (4-18, 3-6 SCIAC) lost 13-4 at No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action Saturday morning as the Bulldogs are the only team to have held the Sagehens to less than 13 goals this season.

Redlands struggled in the first half as they trailed 10-0 after the first quarter and did not score for the first 14 plus minutes until Lucia Notaro (Thousand Oaks, CA) scored with 1:37 left in the half. Kaitlynn Pierceall (Beaumont, CA) then found Alyssa Sorrell (Highland, CA) for a second score :48 seconds later as UR would go into the break down eight, 10-2.

After holding the Sagehens scoreless in the second, they allowed only one goal in the third and scored once thanks to a penalty shot conversion by Pierceall with 2:33 remaining in the third.

The rest of the way Pomona-Pitzer scored twice in the fourth while Sorrell got her second of the game as the Bulldogs lost to the top ranked Division III team and the only Div.  III team ranked in the Division I varsity poll.

Pierceall had a goal, assist, and two steals, Courtney Sawin (Tacoma, WA) drew an exclusion and had a steal and in goal Evelyn Teeter (Westminster, CA) made six saves with a steal in 32:00 minutes.

The Bulldogs will now prepare for their final home game of the season on Monday night, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. as they host Chapman University inside the Thompson Aquatic Center (TAC).
