REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team went back-to-back 9-0 sweeps Sunday beating Occidental College at the Verdieck Tennis Center winning their third straight and improving to 8-4, 3-0 SCIAC.
It was one-sided in doubles with the Bulldogs sweeping quickly.
Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) and
Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) rolled 8-2 at No. 2.
Maegan Deng (Redondo Beach, CA) and
Livi Rockwood (Park City, UT) made quick work of their opponents at No. 1 winning 8-3 and
Gabby Rockwood (Park City, UT) and
Rayna Sugai (Las Vegas, NV) would grab the third point winning 8-4 at No. 3.
In singles the Maroon and Grey kept their foot on the gas pedal taking all six matches in straight sets. Brady was off the court at No. 4 first winning 6-1, 6-1 and
Deja Brown (San Diego, CA) would follow at No. 6 with the clinch winning 6-4, 6-0. L. Rockwood dominated giving up just a game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3. Deng kept her impressive first-year with the Bulldogs winning 6-1, 6-2 at the top spot. The last two matches on finished simultaneously with G. Rockwood at No. 5 winning 6-1, 6-2 and Sugai taking her match at No. 2 6-3, 6-1.
Redlands returns to the court this week on Friday, April 12 when they travel to take on No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer beginning at 3:00pm.
