2025 Softball Schedule
REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Softball team begins their 2025 season at The Field of Dreams against Hope International University on February 8 looking to secure their fifth straight SCIAC Regular Season Championship Title, their third straight SCIAC Tournament Title and their third trip to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
The Bulldogs play 40 games with 21 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) contests, 10 at home and another 11 on the road. Of the 19 non-conference games 13 will take place in Redlands and six will be neutral site games at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Georgia.
Hope finished 37-17 in 2024 and lost in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Opening Round after going 2-2 with a pair of losses to the No. 1 team in the NAIA.
Redlands' first series of the season is a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match-up against Pomona-Pitzer on February 14-15. The Sagehens are in Redlands for a single game before hosting a doubleheader in Claremont, CA. The Sagehens went 18-20 overall and went 10-11 in conference play last year for a fifth place finish.
Occidental College will be the second series on February 21-22. The Tigers come to Redlands on the 21st and host in Los Angeles on the 22nd. They went 7-29, 2-19 in conference finishing as the last place team in SCIAC.
The next weekend sees the Bulldogs make their longest cross-country trip of the Jose Ortega era since 2021 when they were in Texas for the NCAA West Regional. They begin their three-day, six-game trip with Wartburg College on February 28. The Knights finished 2024 at 23-18 and a trip to the NCAA Regional where they lost both games.
Pfeiffer University will be game two on February 28th. The Falcons were dominant, going 45-4, though, they lost in the regional round after posting a 2-2 record.
Day two of the NFCA Leadoff Classic begins with College of Saint Benedict on March 1. The Bennies were 26-19 and lost in the regional round to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh twice.
That same day the Bulldogs play Belhaven University (Miss.). The Blazers made it all the way to the championship game of the College World Series where they lost 2-1 in the best-of-three series to East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) and finished the season 47-10.
The final day of the Classic on March 2 will begin with Piedmont University. The Lions went 18-21 last season.
The second game of the day is against Huntingdon College. The Hawks were 33-8 in 2024. They lost both of the games in the regional as they dropped four of their five postseason games including the Collegiate Conference of The South Tournament.
Susquehanna University is a doubleheader at The Field of Dreams on March 8. The River Hawks were 19-18 last season.
Case Western Reserve University is another doubleheader at home on March 12. The Spartans went 40-9 a year ago and made it to the College World Series.
The very next day Washington University of St. Louis (WashU) is in town for another doubleheader. The Bears were 28-12 overall last season and went 2-2 in the regional round.
Whitworth University plays a doubleheader in Redlands on March 22. The Pirates were 15-25 last season.
The final doubleheader of the 16-straight non-conference games comes against Williams College on March 25. The Ephs completed 2024 in the NCAA Super Regional against ETBU and finished 26-13.
In their return to SCIAC play Chapman University hosts Redlands on March 28 before the Bulldogs host a doubleheader on March 29. In 2024 the Panthers finished in a three-way tie for the SCIAC Regular Season title at 15-6. They ended their season after a 1-2 record in the regional round.
The final two games of non-conference play for the Maroon and Grey come on March 30 against Linfield University. They went 50-4 last season, losing in the Semi-Finals of the College World Series.
The Whittier College Poets host Redlands on April 4 and then come to The Field of Dreams on April 5. The Poets were an even .500 team at 18-18 and went 9-12 in SCIAC and finished sixth.
The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) series comes on April 11-12. The Athenas host on the 11th before the Bulldogs host on the 12th. The Athenas finished 24-14 and tied with the Panthers and Bulldogs for first place for the SCIAC Regular Season Championship Title at 15-6.
After a weekend off the Bulldogs play at the University of La Verne on April 24 and then host a doubleheader on April 26. The Leopards went 13-24 and 7-14 in SCIAC. They were second-to-last in the conference.
California Lutheran University (CLU) is the final three-game series of the regular season on May 2-3. The Regals play once in Redlands before hosting in Thousand Oaks. CLU was the fourth place team, making the SCIAC Tournament where they went 1-2. Overall, they went 15-19 and 11-10 SCIAC.
