Redlands Women's Lacrosse falls in season opener at No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (0-1, 0-1 SCIAC) opened their 2025 season with a 22-2 loss at No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action Wednesday evening.

After struggling to break the Sagehen pressure on clear attempts, the U of R was able to get into the Pomona-Pitzer defensive area at the 4:49 mark of the first, which resulted in a shot by Briannah McGee (Murrieta, CA) forcing a save.

In the second quarter the first free position shot from the Maroon and Grey came from Emily Webster who won a free position opportunity, which turned into a shot on goal getting saved.

On the other end of the field Courtney Myers (Gig Harbor, WA) made a save with 3:03 left in the half as the defense only conceded two goals in the final seven minutes of the second period.

In the opening four minutes of the second half Myers made another save and McGee forced another stop by the PP keeper coming on a free position attempt as Redlands continued to look for their first goal.

With 12:17 on the clock in the fourth McGee drew another free position but this time was able to make the Sagehens pay with the Bulldogs' first goal of the season.

Five minutes later April Bryant (Danville, CA) fed Webster for a second tally in the fourth. In the fourth quarter Dani Flexen (Menifee, CA) subbed in between the posts making three saves.

Myers made 10 saves and played the 45:00 minutes.

Redlands returns home for their season opener against California Lutheran University next Wednesday, February 26 inside Farquhar Field at 7:00 p.m.
